Neusiok OA Chapter Wins Awards
The Occoneechee Lodge WInter Banquet was held on Saturday, December 4th at Camp Durant.  This annual event is a time of fun, fellowship and good food but most imporantly, provides the opportunity to reflect on the past year and recognize accomplishments from all members.

David Helbig and Fabian Jaimes from troop 524 were recognized with the Troop Service Award, while Austin Blackwood accepted the Honor Troop award on behalf of Troop 318.  Additionally, the Neusiok OA Chapter (representing the Neuse River District) was presented with the Chief's Award for Most Improved Chapter during 2010.

Congratulations to all for an excellent year!

District Scouters,

At the recent Report to the Governor, North Carolina Scouting committed to 100,000 hours of Service in our 100th year.  There is no doubt that this is a realistic and certainly attainable goal.  We know you are out there in the community doing lots of good things.  We simply need to let everyone else know.  If you will, please assign someone in your unit to take charge of reporting your units service hours.  Simply go to the service hours reporting webpage at  It only takes a moment to let the whole state know your unit is supporting the 100,000 hour effort.  Currently, Occoneechee Council leads the State in reporting.  Please take a moment to stretch our lead.

In Scouting,

Greg Sanders

Words To Live By....

"There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there are people who wonder what happened. To be successful, you need to be a person who makes things happen."
