Entries for April 2013

The Neuse River District Committee is currently taking nominations for the District Award of Merit, the Distinguished Leadership Citation and the Unsung Hero Awards.  Now is your chance to nominate those Scouters,  parents and/or volunteers who make your Pack, Troop, Team or Crew the great organization that it is!  This year, we have the three levels of awards below:

District Award of Merit – available to Scouters who have rendered service of an outstanding and distinguished nature to the District beyond the unit level.  Persons who have received this award in our District before are not eligible to be nominated again.

Distinguished Leadership Citation – persons nominated for this award will have a minimum of one year of service in Scouting; service can be provided in any level of Scouting or in a combination of levels.  The nominee has enhanced the Scouting program with his/her contributions to the unit or to the overall Scouting program.  The nominee does not have to be a uniformed Scouter or a registered member of your unit.  Persons to consider:  registered unit leaders;  activity coordinators; Chartered Organization Reps; merit badge counselors, etc.  We would like for every unit in the district to nominate at least one, if not more, deserving individuals for this award.

Unsung Hero Award – this award is for those people associated with your unit that might not necessarily hold a position within your unit, but are always there to help or has come to the rescue.

All nomination forms are due to Meredith Blackwood (Meredith.lnt@gmail.com) or to Greg Sanders (greg.sanders@scouting.org) via email or delivered to the scout office by the deadline of April 26th.  All recipients will be announced at May’s Roundtable, do don’t delay in getting your nominations turned in!
